Harver video interview practice

Practice the video portion of your Harver assessment

Harver is often more than a video interview. Employers may pair short recorded answers with other assessments. OneShot helps you rehearse the video part: a prep countdown, a tight answer window, and one take, plus AI feedback when you finish. Your video stays in your browser.

How Harver video questions tend to feel

Harver is used for volume hiring, and a video interview is often one stage inside a larger assessment. The exact flow depends on the employer. Candidates commonly report the following:

  • You complete the steps in a browser, sometimes including situational or other assessments before or after the video questions.
  • Video prompts are short. You get a brief moment to think, then you record.
  • Answer limits can be tighter than a three-minute behavioral interview. Ninety seconds is a useful practice default. Change it if your invite says otherwise.
  • Retakes, when they exist, are chosen by the employer. Treat one take as the safe assumption.
  • Reviewers compare many short answers. A focused opening line matters more than a long setup.
  • OneShot does not recreate Harver's games or written assessments. It recreates the timed video answer.

In a short window, reviewers are checking whether you understood the question and can make one clear point. A full life story will get cut off.

Rehearse the format, three steps

  1. Choose the Harver format. We preload a common timer setup. Change any number to match your invitation.
  2. Answer questions on camera, one take. Pick a question set for your industry or stay with general behavioral questions.
  3. Review STAR, relevance, and filler-word feedback, then compare your answer with an improved version built from your story.

Common Harver interview questions

These prompts are examples for practice. They are not Harver's questions and not any employer's confidential interview.

  1. 1. Why are you interested in this role?

How to approach it: Two specific reasons. In a short timer, you do not have time for a third.

  2. 2. Tell us about a time you helped a customer or colleague solve a problem.

How to approach it: Need, action, outcome. Skip the morning that led up to it.

  3. 3. Describe a time you had to follow a process carefully.

How to approach it: Say which step mattered and what you checked. Process stories die when they stay abstract.

  4. 4. Tell us about a time you made a mistake at work or school.

How to approach it: One sentence on the mistake. The rest is the fix and the new habit.

  5. 5. How do you handle a busy shift or a busy day?

How to approach it: Give your order of operations, then one example of using it.

  6. 6. Describe a time you worked with a team to hit a target.

How to approach it: Say what the target was, what you personally did, and whether you hit it.

Harver interview tips

  • If the answer window is 60 to 90 seconds, aim for one story with one result, not two examples.
  • Start speaking with the answer, not with "That's a great question."
  • Practice finishing early. Being cut off mid-sentence is worse than a short answer.
  • Sit close enough that your face fills a sensible part of the frame, with space above your head.
  • Do not use this, or any tool, while you are inside the real Harver assessment.

Built for one-way interviews, not generic mock interviews

  • A shorter default timer, closer to how video answers are often configured
  • Relevance scoring, so you can see when you missed the question
  • Filler words highlighted in the transcript
  • An improved answer edited to fit the time you set
  • Private playback in your browser
