HireVue practice tools, compared
A fair look at four products people compare when they need to rehearse a timed video interview. No ranking, and no claim we could not check.
No sign-up · No credit card · Camera optional
A HireVue interview is usually a question on a screen, a countdown, and one recording. The useful practice is that format, done before you open the employer's link. Several products show up when people search for a tool. They are not interchangeable.
OneShot Interview has a HireVue practice flow with prep and answer timers you can edit. Big Interview and Yoodli are included because they are common interview-practice products. On the pages we checked, neither one describes a timer you set to a HireVue invitation. Final Round AI's own site lists HireVue-style interviews among the formats it supports. It also describes live answer suggestions during an interview, which is a different product from a rehearsal.
| OneShot Interview | Big Interview | Yoodli | Final Round AI | |

| Paid, as published | $7, $25, $49, or $59 for 30 days. No auto-renew. | $39 for 30 days, $99 for 3 months, $299 lifetime. | $8 or $20 per month, billed annually. Monthly prices were not in the page text. | Pro from $25 per month on their plans section. |
| HireVue-style timer | Yes. You set prep and answer time. One take. | Not described on the pages we checked. | Not described on the pricing page we checked. | They list HireVue-style as a supported format. We did not see an editable prep timer documented there. |
| Best used for | Rehearsing the recording before the deadline. | A broader interview curriculum, especially with a school license. | Speaking, pitches, and interview roleplays over time. | Their described live assistant, or paid practice in their desktop app. Not for use inside the employer's recording. |

What to practice, whoever you use
Read the invitation for prep time, answer time, and whether a retake exists. Those are employer settings. A tool that pretends there is one official HireVue clock is guessing.
Prepare six stories, not a script: a goal, a disagreement, a mistake, a deadline, something you learned quickly, and why this role. For a two-minute answer, keep the situation short and leave the last twenty seconds for the result. If you only have ninety seconds, cut the setup first.
- Write three words during prep time. Speak or type from those.
- Answer in the first sentence. A reviewer with a queue does not need a warm-up.
- Finish before the timer. A cut-off result is a missing answer.
- If you can retake, save it for an answer that missed the question.
- Close every practice tool before the real interview starts.
How the four products differ
OneShot Interview is the narrow one. You run a timed answer, including by typing on a phone, and you get a STAR breakdown and a rewrite of your own story. The first question does not need an account. After the free full session, you pay per session.
Big Interview is the curriculum. Use it if you want lessons and, on the longer plans, resume help, or if your school already pays. Yoodli is the speaking practice, with five free roleplays and an annual subscription after that. Final Round AI is a desktop app whose homepage leads with live suggestions during an interview. Their $0 plan does not include those live sessions, and their FAQ says practice sessions need a subscription too.
Pick from the job you actually have this week. If the job is a silent recording with a deadline, start with one timed question and see the score.
Questions worth a timed take
Common patterns candidates practice before a HireVue invite. Employers write the real prompts. These are not HireVue's questions.
1. Why do you want to work here, in this role?
How to approach it: Two details from the posting, each tied to your experience. Then stop.
2. Tell us about a time you worked with someone whose approach clashed with yours.
How to approach it: Your change in behavior, not their flaws. End on the work that got done.
3. Describe a time you missed the mark.
How to approach it: The miss in one sentence. The fix, and the habit after it, get the rest of the time.
4. Tell us about a time you had more work than time.
How to approach it: How you ordered it. A story about stress without a method does not answer the question.
5. Describe a time you had to learn the job while doing it.
How to approach it: The gap, two actions you took in the first days, and what you could do afterward.
6. What will we see from you in the first month?
How to approach it: One skill you already have, and one thing you will need to learn. Be specific enough to picture.
Questions about this comparison
What is the best HireVue practice tool?
It depends on the job. For a timed one-way recording, practice that timer. OneShot Interview is built for it and has a free question with no sign-up. A school copy of Big Interview is a strong deal for general interview lessons. Yoodli fits ongoing speaking practice. Final Round AI describes a live assistant, which is not the same as rehearsing beforehand, and it should not be used during the employer's interview.
Are the prices on this page current?
They were taken from each company's public pages in October 2026, and from OneShot Interview's pricing page. Plans change. The source links are under the questions.
Do I need a camera to practice?
Not on OneShot Interview. Type or speak. Add video only if you want to check light and framing. The video stays in the browser.
Is OneShot affiliated with HireVue or these other products?
No. OneShot Interview is independent. Product names are used so you can tell them apart. We do not use their logos.
